Xolani Sivunda is a 37 year old self-taught visual artist, he resides in Mfulenitownship, Cape Town. He is a co-founder of Openheartstudios Org.Openheartstudios’ mission and vision is to help young artists in need with space and mentorship. 

In 2017, the artist won a Mini art expo in Pretoria and was given the opportunity to showcase his artworks at Christugwell gallery. Mid-2017, he was one of the artists who illustrated a story in one of Cape Town’s Youth book.

In 2019, he studied Art History and Mosaic at Spier Arts academy. The artist was invited by the Zeitz Mocca’s round table discussion. 

Xolani Sivunda never had a solo exhibition, he’s been in numerous group exbiitions and one international group exhibition with the likes of TimiKakandar by Madlozi art gallery. The name of the show was “OBSIDIANA”.

He has also worked with galleries such as Christugwell art gallery, Eye for artists’ art gallery, Youngblood gallery and Artb gallery. He was invited to work on a project of Nokutela Mdima Dube by Legacycreates LTD. The project was led by Florence Masebe and Asanda Sizani, his work was collected by the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences. Later, the artwork was donated to Inanda Seminar to signify the return of Mama Nokutela Mdima Dube in KwaZulu-Natal.

Xolani has collaborated with one of South Africa’s promising artists, BuhleNkalashe, in the show called “Imimoya” at Youngblood gallery. His work has been privately collected by art collectors, and commissioned internationally and locally.
