Rae Beam

I approach my work much like a musician. There is a strong lyrical nature to my style while remaining primarily abstract. It is an instrumental exploration of space - physical, spiritual, emotional, existential. Occassionally I will use “vocals” as direct represenation - but there must always be the purity of emotional content.

As you lie in bed falling asleep at the cusp before slumber your mind finds that hypnotic, free associative flicker of pure consciousness, spiralinguniversal designs that, in essence, we are all privy to if we choose to look for it. I choose to look...”

Previous Works include holding 3 solo exhibitions: 2001 Savyon Tel Aviv Israel, 2003 Civic Gallery Johannesburg RSA and 2008 Alliance France’s Johannesburg RSA.

The artist has appeared on many group shows and completed numerous commissions since the early 2000s.  Most Recent Works include: 2016 Bennett Contemporary Art Fair RSA, 2017 Youngblood Gallery Cape Town April and October, 2018 Luni Gallery Cape Town February and April, 2018/2019 Daville Bailey Gallery Johannesburg - end of year show, 2019 G2 Art Gallery Cape Town.
