“I start every piece being scared - the blank canvas - it is waiting for me. Unsure or is it I’m insecure? And then it comes together. The puzzle pieces click together - a picture forms in my mind’s eye - and I reach for the colours, for my airbrush, for my brushes, my favourite acrylic markers, one layer after another. And suddenly it is all done! Like waking up from a dreaming meditation, I am looking at a finished piece, and it’s as if someone else did it, another me, more playful and more extrovert.

My pallet of preference is bright, vivid, cheerful colours, while the textual contrast between glossy resin srufaces - my favourite medium - matt cracked, distressed background attracts me strongly. These inclinations towards bold and beautiful get tempered, as my early exposure to and love of mathematics and geometry lead me to include black and white detailed work - and so my works are a fusion.

As a child, I loved cartoons - and this developed into a passion for comics and manga animations as I grew up. Those colourful characters - who brought joy to my life - I know still exert their influence on me today. It’s what I want my art to do: bring joy in someone’s life every time they look at a piece. Oh, and yes, there should be a little bit of sex appeal - just a touch of temptation - because life is not complete without love...”
